Ownership and Management
The Jurnal Kegawatdaruratan Medis Indonesia (JKMI) is published and managed electronically by Al-Hijrah Indonesia, a non-profit organization headquartered in Jombang, Indonesia, that focuses on education, health, information technology, publications, and social and community empowerment. Ownership of the journal is held entirely by Al-Hijrah Indonesia, which was officially established in December 2015 with permission from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (MENKUMHAM RI) No: AHU-0034040.AH.01.07.2015 and Notarial Deed No: 06 dated 4 December 2015 by YUNIAR NOVALIASARI, SH., M.KN. Under the organization's regulations, the Management of Al-Hijrah Indonesia holds the responsibility for overseeing the journal.
Al-Hijrah Indonesia provides funding for the daily management of the journal, including the editorial team's compensation, editorial meetings, peer-review processes, and other operational needs. The editorial team, including the Editor-in-Chief, is legally appointed through an official decree signed by the Board of Directors/Management of Al-Hijrah Indonesia.
The Management of Al-Hijrah Indonesia provides funding and structural support for regular strategic meetings, journal evaluations, and administrative affairs. Furthermore, Al-Hijrah Indonesia provides funding to cover costs associated with the broader needs of the journal, including annual memberships in indexing and DOI services (such as Crossref and DOAJ), Open Journal Systems (OJS) hosting and maintenance, and accreditation compliance. The journal is currently accredited SINTA-5 by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Accreditation Number 156/C/C3/KPT/2026).
Based on the above information, the journal will not mislead potential authors, editors, or readers about the nature of the journal's owner and its institutional backing.
Furthermore, it is essential to understand that the journal follows WAME (World Association of Medical Editors) policies on The Relationship Between Journal Editors-in-Chief and Owners. The Editor-in-Chief, the Management of Al-Hijrah Indonesia, and the organization as a whole want the journal to succeed, but they have distinctly different roles. The Editor-in-Chief’s primary responsibilities are to inform and educate readers, with attention to the accuracy and importance of journal articles, and to protect and strengthen the integrity and quality of the journal and its processes. Al-Hijrah Indonesia supports the core values and policies of the organization. They are ultimately responsible for all aspects of publishing the journal, including its staff, budget, business policies, and institutional compliance, as previously mentioned. The relationship between Al-Hijrah Indonesia and the Editor-in-Chief is based on mutual respect and trust, and recognition of each other’s authority and responsibilities.
The Editor-in-Chief has full authority over the editorial content of the journal, generally referred to as “editorial independence.” Editorial content includes articles and editorials, both in print and electronic formats, and how and when information is published. Al-Hijrah Indonesia does not interfere in the evaluation, selection, or editing of individual articles, either directly or by creating an environment in which editorial decisions are strongly influenced.
